Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is due to come out next month, and you can get a fresh look at it today by tuning into an RGG Like A Dragon Direct right here that'll see SEGA show off some more of what you'll get up to in the swashbuckling Majimadventure.
]]>“I've had a lot of experience in these gallery spaces and it always felt like this vague form of superficial hell to me,” Filippo Meozzi, director and producer of Doom: The Gallery Experience, tells me.
]]>Do you enjoy taking in some high culture, ruminating on the messaging of art, chatting to fellow brain-havers about the nature of humanity and its history? Do you like classic Doom? Well, good news, there's now a game called Doom: The Gallery Experience, and it lets you wander around exhibits as a wine-sipping version of everyone's favourite demon-slayer.
]]>If you can believe that much time has passed, Bayonetta is 15 years old now, and PlatinumGames has teased… something!
]]>As you're probably aware, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead gave players the game's first driveable vehicle when it deployed the Omens of Tyranny update. It's called the FRV, and it's an off-road jeep - or at least it was until modders got their hands on it. Now, one's made the inspired decision to replace it with Axel's iconic cab from Crazy Taxi.
]]>Everyone's favourite blue hedgehog can't guarantee a successful game, but it turns out that Sonic can really put bums in movie theatre seats.
]]>Look, it’s not my fault I like video games where you run around like a mischievous little Grinch ruining the Christmas that is people going about their everyday lives, by running them down with cars, slamming a bike over their head so hard they don’t get up, or firing an RPG directly at the pavement in front of them.
]]>You know all those games we were talking about potentially being the thing this year around the time that Geoff Keighley was putting on his best corporate forced smile and preparing to take to the stage at The Game Awards?
]]>I write about games for a living (lucky me, right?) and as much of a dream as that is, it has some downsides. If you can believe it. One of them is that I often don’t find games very stimulating or motivating. When you need to play something that’s not exactly to your taste as often as once a week to ensure you’re covering it correctly, you often find yourself engaging ‘work’ brain, rather than ‘fun’ brain. Pumping 50 hours into CoD in a week can be rough when you also need to spend a lot of the 9-to-5 editing, running meetings, generating reports, or yelling to colleagues about Google’s baffling new Core Update.
]]>I recently realised with some alarm that I've spent nearly 2% of 2024 playing Ace Attorney. That's not just 2% of my free time or even the time I spent awake, to be clear, but a whole percentage of the time I was alive in 2024, in-game in Ace Attorney. But honestly, what can you expect in a year when five previously almost-lost games from one of my favourite series were remastered and rereleased for modern systems, literally doubling the amount of Ace Attorney accessible to contemporary audiences within the span of only eight months?
]]>Be careful out there, Sonic fans, as spoilers for the third movie have seemingly hit the internet.
]]>If you can believe it, the Like a Dragon/ Yakuza series is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, and there's plenty of good news to come.
]]>Keanu Reeves is the Shadow the Hedgehog none of us saw coming, but it turns out that Sonic the Hedgehog 3's director felt John Wick was a perfect "audition" for the character.
]]>Sonic X Shadow Generations has come down to just $29.99 on Switch, Xbox, and PS5 for Black Friday. The game usually goes for about $50 so this Black Friday deal is a great opportunity for a discounted romp down memory lane.
]]>I am a big Command & Conquer fan, but even I had to look up what Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances was before writing this. Now, why would I feel the need to research this particular game today? The answer to that question is quite simple, actually.
]]>Paramount and Sega have graced us with a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 today, and a bit unexpectedly, there's a reference to Pokemon in it.
]]>UPDATE (14/11/24, 8:40 AM GMT): VG247 has recieved the following statement from a Microsoft spokesperson: "We respect our employees’ rights to express their point of view as they have done today. We will continue to listen and address their concerns at the bargaining table."
]]>Sonic the Hedgehog 3 certainly won't be the end of the series' live-action adaptations, as its director hints at more character teases to come.
]]>Metaphor ReFantazio’s Junah Follower bond is, ostensibly, about getting Junah ready for a big performance, but there’s a lot more going on than just that. It explores some of the Nidia’s personal problems and the tribe’s unique characteristics that put them in a gray space under Sanctism’s social structure. Starting it takes more effort than usual, but it’s worth the gruelling dungeon you have to get through.
]]>Metaphor ReFantazio’s Brigitta Follower bond explores the darker side of Grand Trad and the Sanctist Church from a different perspective. Brigitta’s Follower bond is one of Metaphor’s darker side stories – which, considering Alonzo exists, is saying something – but it’s worth seeing through if only for the battle benefits you get.
]]>Seeing Metaphor ReFantazio’s Heismay Follower bond through to the end takes you to the heart of not just the eugief thief’s own problems, but the issues his entire village faces. It’s dense and fraught with emotional trauma, though unlike some other Follower bonds, Heismay has more options that give you more MAG.
]]>If a device exists, you can almost guarantee someone has put Doom on it, and that's exactly what's happened with the Nintendo Alarmo.
]]>Completing Metaphor ReFantazio's More Follower bond gives you the double bonus of MAG and lots of Imagination. More's Follower bond works differently from everyone else's, but the basic idea of chatting with More and picking the right answers is the same.
]]>It turns out that I can relate quite a lot to the new live-action actor behind Kazuma Kiryu, as he's waiting to play the Yakuza series until he has more time, too.
]]>Advancing Metaphor ReFantazio's Hulkenberg bond helps the tormented ex-knight come to terms with her challenging past and forge a path for a better future. You won't have to rank up a ridiculous number of Royal Virtues for this one, but you will have to hit the road a lot.
]]>If you ask someone like me, who's really into the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games, why you should play the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games, fairly early on in the process there's a good chance they'll end just defaulting to grabbing you by the lapells and in their best husky Kiryu voice saying something like: 'Look, just play the damn things'.
]]>Metaphor ReFantazio’s Strohl Follower bond digs deeper into the young noble’s tumultuous quest for answers after humans destroy his family home. It’s gentle as Metaphor’s Follower bonds go, with fewer strict requirements than most, though you’ll still need to focus on raising one specific Royal Virtue to reach the end.
]]>Sonic X Shadow Generations requires a bit of explaining. Sure, if you’re a series fan that’s been following the marketing beats, you may already know - but something I’ve realized over the last few weeks is that a lot of people are blissfully unaware as to what this actual package is. Is it a new game? A remaster? Well, the answer is something in between.
]]>Deciding on the best Metaphor ReFantazio Archetypes might seem like a vain endeavor, after Atlus said each of the RPG’s classes is balanced to work in any circumstance, but some Archetypes are, without a doubt, more useful than others. Metaphor ReFantazio’s Royal Archetypes are the best. That’s unsurprising, considering they’re the ultimate forms of each party member’s Archetype lineage, so we’re not even going to bother listing them. Instead, we’ve laid out just over half a dozen Archetypes and their advanced lineages that have something special to offer, either particularly strong skills, an impressive range of ability types that free up your party’s Inherited Skill slots, or essential moves that exploit important weaknesses.
]]>Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii has just gotten a fresh trailer during today's Xbox Partner Preview, ahead of its release on a slightly bumped up release date of February 21, 2025.
]]>Do you like video games that have something to do with Xbox? Well, if so, you'll probably want to tune into the Xbox Partner Preview show that's taking place later today, October 17. The good news is that you can watch it right here.
]]>You’ll need Metaphor ReFantazio’s Blessed Water and Graced Water to purify equipment at a church, and you definitely want to purify weapons and armor. The process is costly, but it increases the item’s stats and, sometimes, even adds powerful extra effects – elemental imbuement, for example, a chance to dodge certain attacks, or even reduced money costs for Merchant skills. The trouble is that Metaphor tells you nothing about where to get those essential materials.
]]>Helldivers 2's next big patch is now set to drop tomorrow, October 15, because Arrowhead forgot to factor weekends into its plans when it announced that 60 day plan during the summer. The good news is that the studio's made up for this minor oversight via a cheeky video teasing what's coming in the patch, including one inclusion that's seen Johan Pilestedt get in on the jokes.
]]>Raising wisdom fast in Metaphor ReFantazio unlocks a new Follower, a quirky Archetype, and access to a challenging bounty that rewards you with Courage and a unique Igniter. You need to hit Wisdom rank 2 to accept Brigitta’s proposal and take all this on, but the trouble is that, so early in Metaphor, your options for raising Wisdom are rather limited.
]]>Getting the hang of Metaphor ReFantazio’s inherited skills is crucial to making it through some of the RPG’s more challenging fights, and it expects you to make smart use of it as early as the first dungeon. Skill inheritance is a pricey process, so think carefully before you make any big decisions. More won’t give you your MAG back if you make a choice you end up regretting.
]]>How to unlock the Gunner in Metaphor ReFantazio is something you’ll want to do as soon as you can, both to expand your combat abilities and to keep pressing forward with More’s quests and Follower rank. The Gunner is tucked away behind a side quest that might be tempting to complete later to save time, though the status ailments its abilities cause make getting through Martira’s dungeons much easier.
]]>Unlocking every Metaphor ReFantazio Archetype is quite the process, but it's essential for keeping up with the RPG's later fights. Basic Archetypes only serve you for so long, so it's a smart idea to plan ahead and work toward unlocking a class' advanced lineage nodes by ranking up specific Follower relationships and hitting level milestones with basic Archetype prerequisites.
]]>I'm not exactly sure what Sega's gameplan here is, but the developer has another live-action adaptation in the works, this time about Shinobi.
]]>Did you get off on outsmarting enemies, tiptoeing around the xenomorph, and praying that your save file isn’t going to get permenantly screwed by a misjudged visit to a terminal in the original Alien: Isolation? Yes? Well then, you’re going to be thrilled to find out that a sequel is real, and in production at Sega.
]]>A new preview trailer for Like a Dragon: Yakuza is here, and it shows off much more Majima tongue than I expected.
]]>The movie version of Shadow the Hedgehog is coming to Sonic X Shadow Generations, but most of Sega didn't even know Keanu Reeves would be back for the game.
]]>You there. Have you got a minute? Did you stay up for September 24's State of Play broadcast from Playstation - the one that took place last night UK time? Well, Xbox has now let everyone know which of the games we saw at it are currently pencielled in to also be dropping on its platform, and if you'll just stop trying to walk through me, I can give you a quick roundup of the other big news from the show too.
]]>While it’s not news that Keanu Reeves would be the voice behind the role of Shadow the Hedgehog in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, it turns out that the actor will be making an appearance in Sonic x Shadow Generations upcoming DLC, too.
]]>Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, a new Like A Dragon spin-off game coming early next year, has been announced at today's RGG Summit 2024.
]]>An RGG Summit that'll likely offer an inkling of what's coming next for the Like A Dragon series is set to air today, September 20, and you can watch it here.
]]>Bit-by-bit, Sega is revealing the levels on offer in Shadow Generations, the new game-within-a-game that is shipping as part of the wider Sonic X Shadow Generations package. The latest info drop features a highlight from one of Shadow’s least auspicious outings.
]]>A Facebook page puporting to be for a new Like A Dragon title called Yakuza Wars has popped up, along with some apparent advertisements. What is the game? Well, assuming these are genuine, a mobile strategy game starring the likes of Kiryu, Majima, and Ichiban Kasuga with some pretty meme-worthy artwork.
]]>Like A Dragon/Yakuza series developer RGG Studio has locked in an RGG Summit for September 20, the same date we got its fall RGG Summit last year, and seems set to reveal . Naturally, fans have been quick to start speculating/wishing into existence stuff they'd like to see the studio whip out.
]]>Yakuza Kiwami, the remaster of the first game in the series, is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch this October, allowing you to experience the opening tale of Kazuma Kiryu's story - depending on whether you fancy playing prequel Yakuza 0 beforehand - on the handheld.
]]>After an incredibly long wait, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 finally has its first trailer, and it's looking like an absolute doozy for fans of the series.
]]>Sega has another live-action movie on the way, but it's not Persona or anything you've likely heard of.

]]>Do you remember Thatcher's Techbase, the Doom mod that lets you kill deceased former UK prime minister Margaret Thatcher, whose actions while in office rendered her more hated by working class people than even the numerous Tories that've followed in her footsteps since the 1980s? Well, it's now playable on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

]]>Hello gamer. I have some bad news. It looks like the global economy is having a bit of a rough time, with markets all over the globe taking a tumble towards the red. It's lacking aura, as the kids say. Wall Street has lost much of its rizz. As a video game website, this may not seem like relevant news to you, but it absolutely is. Companies like Nintendo, Sega, and Capcom have seen a decrease in stock valuation as a result of this historical crash. This article will go through the why of it all, ahead of what could be the starting gun of a global recession, in video game terms.
]]>SEGA has trademarked the name "Yakuza Wars" in Japan, and naturally it's triggered a bunch of speculation from fans of that well-known series the publisher's long been behind which features just a few Japanese gangsters in nice suits. I'm talking about Ryu Ga Gotoku's Like A Dragon franchise, formerly known, lest we forget, as the Yakuza series.
]]>Prime Video has released the first teaser trailer for its live-action take on the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon, but don't expect too much from it.
]]>With Amazon Prime Day 2024 now live, fans of the Persona series have reason to celebrate as Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Tactica are on sale. ]]>Like a Dragon: Yakuza has been announced as a new Amazon television adaptation of the hit SEGA action RPG. It'll release on the Amazon Prime video service on October 24 / 25, as a simultanious worldwide release.
]]>Yakuza/ Like a Dragon is everyone's favourite oddball action game/ RPG/ life-sim these days, but Sega apparently completely rejected the first time pitches for the first game.
]]>If there's one Total War game I keep coming back to, on those late nights when I hunger for the series' beloved brand of tactical management gameplay, it's Total War Three Kingdoms. A delve into the romantic depiction of China's great history, a time where acts of heroism placed generals and tacticians in the pantheon alongside gods. A great revolution thwarted, legendary betrayals and alliances, and a country engulfed in flames. It is one of my feel good games - the great stress diluter - and it stands today a butchered pariah. A game whose life was cut short, and ultimately resigned to history.
]]>Sega might have cancelled Hyenas, but you shouldn't count Creative Assembly out just yet, as it's reportedly working on a Total War Star Wars game next.
]]>It's looking like Microsoft is gearing up for a new Doom reveal, as a new report touches on the potential sequel following the closure of two beloved studios.
]]>The world of Lego is nowhere near as secretive as video games, and that means it’s pretty normal for the first word about upcoming Lego sets to just squeak out onto the internet with little fanfare thanks to retailers and the like. Such is the case for the next wave of Lego Sonic the Hedgehog sets, which are set to arrive in August.
]]>I don't think any of us ever saw it coming, but it seems that video game adaptations are kind of good now. Not perfect, but certainly polished enough where you won't necessarily be embarrassed to say you watched it, or get a strange look when you try to explain what it's about.
]]>Those of you hesitant to pick up a Paramount Plus subscription but want to try out Knuckles are in luck, because the first episode is available for free on YouTube.
]]>Knuckles just arrived on Paramount's streaming service Paramount Plus this week, but it looks like you'll be able to pick it up on DVD and Blu-ray.
]]>SEGA has revealed new details on multiplayer and battle modes for Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, both of which feature local and online play and a host of features.
]]>It probably won't surprise you that, despite the numbers, Sonic 3 is borrowing a lot from Sonic Adventure 2, but I really am wondering what will happen to Maria.
]]>We all know Sonic the Hedgehog loves chilli dogs, right? That’s not some weird deep cut from the 90s multimedia Sonic takeover that I’ve just internalised, is it? It feels like canon to me: the blue blur loves to eat, and specifically, he loves chilli dogs. You can collect them in some of the more obscure games as collectibles, and the social media posts are full of them. It’s well established, both in universe and outside of it.
]]>You there. Do you like Dragon's Dogma 2 and watching two things that aren't you fight each other? Well, if you've ever wanted to see what happens when an ogre decides it's just about had enough of a pack of goblins or a griffin and don't want to rely on random chance to make that dream come true, a new mod looks like it can help.
]]>It's sounding like Sonic 3 is set to be a hit with massive fans of the series, if you ask Knuckles himself Idris Elba anyway.
]]>After months of rumours, speculation, and fan castings, it finally seems like the one and only Keanu Reeves has been cast as Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic 3.
]]>Inspired by the recent free drop of current viral sensation Content Warning – a co-op survival “shooter” about making spooky FauxTube videos with three of your mates – this week’s Best Games Ever podcast is all about freebies that we’d happily pay for.
]]>Paramount's ambitions are high when it comes to Sonic, as the franchise's lead producer wants them to be "Avengers-level events."
]]>SEGA is reportedly planning to cut 240 jobs across a number of its studios, with Total War developer Creative Assembly, SEGA Europe, and Sonic Dream Team developer Hardlight being the studios set to be affected by these layoffs. Meanwhile, the publisher has announced that it's sold Company of Heroes developer Relic, which now plans to go independent.
]]>That Sonic the Hedgehog Fall Guys clone has leaked, and somehow, it actually looks like it might not be half bad.

]]>In the eternal quest to put Doom on literally everything ever, it is now possible to play Doom on a… lawn more?
]]>Obviously titles like Grounded and Pentiment were the big reveals in terms of Microsoft games on Switch today, but there were actually a few more announced too.
]]>Congrats, Super Monkey Ball fans, Banana Rumble, a brand new game in the classic series, is on the way!
]]>If you're desperate to get your hands on Unicorn Overlord, there's some great news for you: a demo has just been announced at today's Nintendo Direct!
]]>It introduced one of the most interesting RPG battle systems outside the ‘golden era’ of Final Fantasy games. It had a soundtrack by Shoji Meguro inspired by both rock and metal from the 1980s, and hardcore dance and techno from the 90s. It had a mature, nihilistic story that drew from Gnosticism, Buddhism and other world philosophies. It presented cel-shaded graphics with style and confidence, and committed wholly to a minimalistic art style that has barely aged a day. It was the first Shin Megami Tensei (or MegaTen) game to release in Europe, and it remains one of the best games I’ve ever played.
]]>Sega's upcoming new Crazy Taxi will apparently be a "triple-A" title, but, uh, Sega does know it's a goofy arcade game right?
]]>As soon as I saw the trailer for Unicorn Overlord back in September 2023, I knew it was a Vanillaware game. It was the food, you see; the studio behind the sublime 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim has a specific eye for food – Ghibli-esque in its detail – and as soon as a massive meal fit for an army appeared on the screen, I could see Vanillaware’s fingerprints all over it.
]]>The first trailer for the Sonic spinoff series focusing on Knuckles that no one asked for is here, and it actually looks kind of cute and badass.
]]>Sonic Adventure 2 fans, it'll soon be your time, as it's been confirmed that the greatest song from all of the series' games, Live and Learn, will be in Sonic 3.
]]>In what is sounding like a match made in heaven, Naoto Oshima, original designer of Sonic the Hedgehog, is making a film with Dragon Ball studio Toei Animation.
]]>Warning: Spoilers for Like A Dragon`: Infinite Wealth lie ahead.
]]>The start of the year has been pretty stacked with big JRPGs like Persona 3 Reload and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but surprisingly, it's Granblue Fantasy: Relink that's coming out on top.
]]>Who knows if it will stick to this, but Atlus currently has zero intentions to release a Royal or Golden-type version of Persona 3 Reload.
]]>Jim Carrey will return as Dr. Robotnik for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
]]>Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth has just cruised past the one million units sold mark, and, rather fittingly, it’s happened around the same time that a bunch of players have decided to share the strange and interesting stuff they've built on Dondoko Island so far.
]]>
