The light being Arkham “it’s a Metroidvania, actually” Asylum, the solitary jewel in the crown of Batman-themed video games, nestled amongst a litany of, frankly, shite.

]]>Assassin's Creed II isn't only holding its own in the year's hottest charts, but has managed to secure itself a Game of the Year nomination at the VGAs this week and a stable MC rating of 91 percent.
If you've been playing these last few weeks, you'll know the plaudits are well deserved. The original's lack of variety has been so soundly buried under tons of superb presentation and sheer class that the game's massive team can rightly line up for its giant "win" stamp.
With Ezio's adventures being very much of the moment, we managed to grab some time with scriptwriter Corey May and producer Sebastien Puel to chat about getting such a massive title through to completion, justification for that much-debated slow start and the thinking behind the game's showstopping "Nintendo joke".

]]>Assassin's Creed 2 has sold an excellent 1.6 million units in its first week, Ubi just confirmed, with sales up 32 percent over the original game.
The title's sitting pretty now, with little left to challenge it in the run-up to Christmas thanks to Modern Warfare 2's scare tactics.

]]>Ubisoft's revealed that the official soundtrack for Assassin's Creed II will be released on November 16.
The OST is done by Hitman composer, Jesper Kyd.
"Jesper Kyd's score for Assassin's Creed II brings players into the Italian Renaissance by providing a true sense of depth for the poignant moments, while also giving a jolt of adrenaline to the action-packed sequences," said creative director of the game, Patrice Desilets.
