Starfield design director Emil Pagliarulo has put the sci-fi RPG up there with the Elder Scrolls and Fallout, though I'm not sure he gets to make that call.

]]>“I had been playing Skyrim for a long time, and one day the idea just came to me,” YouTuber Sidek tells me. “‘What if I killed Nazeem every day until TES VI was released?’”
]]>Have you been left a bit bummed out that, after having your appetite for the series renewed by Amazon's Fallout TV show, the most recent Fallout games on offer are Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, both of which are getting fairly long in the tooth, even if they are still getting fresh updates? Well, here's what could be a bit of good news - Todd Howard says Bethesda's looking into upping its output, if it can do so in a manner it's a fan of.
]]>“When I think of the fanbase, I do think of those early days when we first announced Fallout 3,” ex-Bethesda artist Jonah Lobe tells me, “We got a lot of hate."
]]>We’ve all been waiting to hear more about The Elder Scrolls 6 for years now, and, in a nice post celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary, Bethesda’s offered us a nice little update. People at the studio are apparently playing early versions of the game, and from the sounds of it, they’re having fun.
]]>Given that it’s infamous for featuring some terrifyingly bizarre NPC encounters, Oblivion makes a pretty good game to play during spooky season, something the latest Skyblivion showcase proves.
]]>According to former Bethesda dev Bruce Nesmith, pretty much all decisions about the team's games "run through" Todd Howard, even if the studio head doesn't want that.
]]>The Elder Scrolls 6 might have been announced five years ago, but a former designer at Bethesda doesn't think we'll learn much about it until shortly before release.
]]>It might not be The Elder Scrolls 6, but a new Elder Scrolls mobile game could maybe, ever so slightly scratch that itch while you wait.
]]>Yesterday was not a great day for Microsoft’s Xbox division. Due to some goof up by entities unknown, documents submitted for the purposes of discovery in the Federal Trade Commission's case against Microsoft purchasing Activision Blizzard (a case they actually dropped earlier this year) ended up splashed all over the internet, as reported by many gaming focused Twitter accounts and media outlets (including ourselves, naturally).
]]>It's becoming increasingly unclear how early The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to release, as Microsoft itself has suggested it could be out as soon as 2026.
]]>Head of Xbox Phil Spencer doesn't seem to want to give a definitive answer as to whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will be on anything but Xbox.
]]>Starfield seems to be harbouring a little reference to The Elder Scrolls 6, and it certainly seems that Bethesda thinks we have pretty great expectations for it.
]]>Huzzah and praise freaking Talos. It has happened: The Elder Scrolls 6 is finally out of pre-production and has moved into the early-development phase.
]]>If you think The Elder Scrolls 6 was possibly announced a bit too early, you're not alone, because Bethesda head Todd Howard seems to be thinking the same.
]]>The United States' Federal Trade Commission (FTC)'s trial with Microsoft continues to be a source of all sorts of juicy corporate tidbits, the sort that never gets discussed in public. The trial, which is currently underway, was initiated after the FTC successfully managed to win a temporary restraining order that brought the company's preposed merger with Activision Blizzard to a halt.
]]>If you were hoping that The Elder Scrolls 6 might be out soon enough after Starfield, throw those hopes away, as it's still at least "five-plus" years out.
]]>Sony is pointing to Starfield as evidence that Microsoft might not be entirely trustworthy when it comes to keeping Call of Duty multiplatform.
]]>What do we know about The Elder Scrolls 6 So far? Well, according to Microsoft, it's 'a mid-size game'. It will definitely release after Starfield. Bethesda director Todd Howard said – fairly recently – that the massive RPG is still in its design phase, which is the earliest stage of development proper.
]]>What do you think of when you think 'mid-size' game? Perhaps, if you're thinking in terms of scope and budget, you'd label something like A Plague Tale: Requiem or Evil West as 'mid-size'. They come from a publisher that delights in boasting the benefits of the double-A game, after all.
]]>In a recent interview with PCGamer, Nate Purkeypile gave many of us an insight into Bethesda’s upcoming RPG, Starfield. Nate has been a developer for 17 years, with 14 of those years being spent at Bethesda working on the likes of Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76.
]]>As we keep waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6 and – way before that – Starfield, us veteran Elder Scrolls fans keep wondering about where Bethesda might take the long-awaited sixth mainline entry of their big fantasy series.
]]>I, Breton sorcerer Vidal von Astral, watch over my partner – an Argonian assassin going by 'Lizzy' – as she sneaks downstairs into the wine cellar of a bustling tavern. I say 'sneak,' but really the archaic-yet-endearing Morrowind animation system and digitigrade structure of her lizardy legs means that she's slowly bounding like a Saturday morning cartoon character who's trying to telegraph to the viewer that they're up to something devious. The guards seem confused, watching her go down and around the corner and yet not committing to following her – perhaps there's more deceit to this comical Argonian stealth than meets the non-NPC eye.
]]>My Skyrim doesn’t look like yours. It doesn’t even look like my Skyrim from five years ago. Thanks to a furiously talented and prolific modding community, the land and everything in it have evolved over time, deepening in detail and beauty at a steady rate for over a decade, one uncompressed 16K texture pack at a time.
]]>By Azura, is The Elder Scrolls 6 far away! With Starfield set to arrive near the end of the year, the sixth main entry in Bethesda’s iconic saga might as well not exist right now. Of course, we’re not short on massive open worlds – especially now that SSDs are taking over and rewriting what can be done when it comes to level design – but you just can’t fill that Skyrim-shaped hole, can you?
]]>The Elder Scrolls 6 might be years in the future, but that doesn't stop people from asking questions. Naturally, fans celebrated the 2018 announcement trailer that confirmed the game actually existed. However, there hasn’t been much news on the title since then. In fact, there wasn’t even much of an update this past E3, though Starfield got a decent amount of spotlight.
]]>When Daggerfall first released in 1996, I wasn’t aware of it because I was 12 and therefore incapable of growing a convincing beard. In the decades since, it’s become something of a legend; jostling with its direct sequel, Morrowind, for premium position as the quintessential Elder Scrolls game that none of the others can live up to in the minds of its proponents. It’s a curious juxtaposition – they are both instantly recognisable as Elder Scrolls games, but Morrowind is quite antithetical to Daggerfall in its approach, deliberately so. Their differences reflect a fundamental shift, that’s still ongoing, in what a role-playing video game is: an adaptation of the tabletop experience, or a simulation of life in a fantasy world?
]]>Xbox boss Phil Spencer has, once again, hinted that Bethesda‘s Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox console exclusive. Whenever it launches, that is.
]]>The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced as being in development at E3 2018 which is was a bit out of character for Bethesda as it tends not to announce a game so far in advance. The company, however, wanted to assure fans the game was in the works.
]]>While we already know it's going to be a while before The Elder Scrolls 6 is released, it appears it may be a bit longer than we have hoped.
]]>But it's probably The Elder Scrolls Online, who knows.
