]]>WOWInsider's published an internal EB email claiming that not only was the Wrath of the Lich King launch the biggest sales week of the year so far, but it was the biggest week ever outside of last year's Christmas sales, and the biggest launch the chain has ever had.
It was big, bucko. There are no figures on the mail, but expect the add-on to feature prominently November's ABCs.
]]>Wrath of the Lich King's upon us, and while we spent our evening with Blizzard in London last night, things happened in the rest of the world as well, apparently.
Joystiq and Kotaku have posted up reports and photos from the San Francisco event, while MTV covered the New York shindig.

The game will hit North America, Europe, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Russia on November 13; November 14 in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand; and Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on November 18.
The Collector's Edition will contain:
- The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, a 208-page book featuring never-before-seen images from the game.
- An exclusive in-game pet: Frosty, the baby frost wyrm.
- A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, the Wrath of the Lich King intro cinematic with director’s commentary, and more.

- A mouse pad featuring a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend.
- Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion™ starter decks, along with two exclusive cards available only in the Collector’s Edition.
Make no mistake: this will be one of the biggest games industry launches this year. The Burning Crusade launch in London was stupidly over-subscribed, and made the Wii and PS3 launches of the same period look puny by comparison. Don't say we didn't warn you.

]]>According to this 1UP report, Blizzard's now allowing Wrath of the Lich King beta players in the US to add three pre-levelled 80 characters to their game. from the piece:
Blizzard has yet to make any official statements about these preleveled avatars, but their gear and naming scheme implies that the company is ramping up testing on PVP at the new level cap. Lake Wintergrasp -- World of Warcraft's first dedicated PVP zone -- has been singled out as the subject of criticism from scads of testers, so there's a good chance this is the first step toward fine-tuning that experience.

]]>Speaking here, Blizzard's Rob Pardo has said that WoW players want a fair financial system once they're in the game and that micro-transactions would "betray" them.
"We chose to go with the subscription-based model instead of that approach," he said. "We've taken the approach that we want players to feel like it's a level playing field once they're in WoW. Outside resources don't play into it - no gold buying, etc. We take a hard line stance against it. What you get out of micro-transactions is kind of the same thing and I think our player base would feel betrayed by it. I think that's something else you have to decide on up-front instead of implementing later."
Blizzard is currently working towards the release of Wrath of the Lich King, the second major expansion to its 10-million strong MMO.
