Street Fighter 6 has just had yet another battle pass announced for it as it enters the 2025 season, filled with cosmetics for player avatars, stickers, and online challenger portraits. However for Street Fighter 6 fans who've been fiending for new costumes for the main cast, the announcement has gone down terribly.
]]>I've played Guilty Gear: Strive, Tekken 8, and Street Fighter 6 against people in the states over the weekend, and I think it's safe to say that the war for better netcode in fighting games is pretty much won at this point.
]]>It's been a great year for fighting game events. Not only did Evo 2024 — the biggest fighting game tournament in the world — wrap up after breaking records, but we've seen growth across the genre, and across the globe. It feels like more attention than ever is on a historically niche style of game, as well as the culture of high level play surrounding it.
]]>Earlier this year, we saw the biggest open bracket video game tournament conclude - Evo 2024. With over 16,000 tournament entrants and many spectators alongside them, Evo made clear to the Las Vegas crowd that it's not going away any time soon. Or, well, you could argue it said the opposite! Not in terms of a permanent goodbye, but more of a holiday abroad, as Evo international events in France and Signapore were announced live during the Sunday finals.
]]>Ever since I've been playing video games, I've been playing them on a pad. The lovable Xbox 360 pad. The brilliant PS4 pad. These days, the bulky and boisterous PS5 pad. I have never owned an arcade stick. This was not for lack of want - an arcade stick even today is a sign of gaming prestige as a Ferrari is for driving. Imagine my shock when earlier this year this all changed with the Vitrix Pro FS. In my late 20's, without kids nor mortgage, an ever-expanding waistline and ever-receding hairline, I am in theory the ideal market for such a product. It felt natural on my lap.
]]>Street Fighter 6 just got a new teaser trailer for Terry Bogard, showing a bit of in-game cinematic footage of the legendary Fatal Fury and King of Fighters character in the World Tour mode. Alongside this comes a release window: Terry will be launching as DLC in Autumn 2024.

]]>In a crossover no one saw coming, senior developers from both Zenless Zone Zero and Street Fighter 6 have recently come together for a roundtable discussion about their games, game design philosophy, and perhaps most interestingly the thought process behind how to keep players invested in each title, while maintaining depth for hardcore players.

With its closure, the tournament's organisers have revealed that it's surpassed 10,000 unique competitors, making it the largest video game tournament in history. This figure also does not include non-competitor ticket sales, which will remain available until the tournament's start in July.
]]>Last year, we learned that Capcom and Legendary Pictures had teamed up to develop a new live-action Street Fighter movie, and Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou were promptly attached to it. Now, the filmmakers have just departed the project due to scheduling issues, but that isn't stopping distributor Sony Pictures from setting a tentative release date anyway.
]]>It turns out that the developers behind Street Fighter 6 had considered unifying the character names across all regions, but eventually gave up. This means that, at least for the foreseeable future, M. Bison will be Vega, and Dictator. Oh, and Balrog is still M. Bison in Japan. Call 'em what you like.
]]>Year 2 of Street Fighter 6 will soon be getting underway in earnest, with the competitive pro tour getting back on the road and four new characters set to join the roster over the next twelve months. But this time, something truly different is happening: guest characters.

]]>Earlier this month, fighting game players across the US learned that the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive hotel was to close suddenly, pulling the rug out from under the upcoming CEOtaku tournament. This sucks for a variety of reasons, obviously. At a base level, a lot of hotel staff are getting laid off. For the attendees of CEOTaku, it will force a sudden change in travel plans, and the organizers must now undergo the expensive process of tracking down and securing a new venue on short notice. But more than that, it means that one of the last remaining in-person gaming subcultures is losing a home of sorts.
]]>Akuma is ALWAYS a problem.
]]>Street Fighter 6 entering its second year can mean only one thing - a meta-shattering balance patch. About damn time.
]]>Akuma has just gotten a shiny new gameplay trailer at Evo Japan, signaling the imminent arrival of the fighter to Street Fighter 6. Alongside the trailer, we now know that Akuma will be coming to the game on May 22nd.
]]>To help you out, we've written this quick guide that'll run you through everything you need to know about the Evo Japan schedule. It'll answer a variety of questions like when is Evo Japan? Where do I watch Evo Japan? And who can forget, what games are at Evo Japan!

]]>Street Fighter 6 is the Game of the Year. Yeah, 2023 has been a truly incredible year for game releases (though certainly not for the industry, what with all the brutal rounds of lay-offs), but even among such stiff competition, Street Fighter 6 stands tall.
]]>Street Fighter 6 has announced its next collaboration, this time to commemorate the upcoming release of Spy x Family Code: White.
]]>With Street Fighter 6, Capcom nailed it. The mood of the series, the visual look, the balance. Its online modes are sublime, and the company finally found a template that works for single-player. It’s one of the best games of 2023. But before its release year is out, Capcom is threatening that reputation with silly over-the-top monetization.
]]>The game line-up for Evo Japan 2024 has been revealed, and it includes a nice mix of both expected favourites and some of 2024's most anticipated fighting games. This will likely be the first major international tournament for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes, and Tekken 8.

]]>The president of Capcom, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, has stated he would "gracefully decline" any offer of acquisition from Microsoft, in an interview with Bloomberg.
]]>Street Fighter 6 gives players the opportunity to get to know the various heroes, villains, and famous world warriors of the SF series more closely than ever by training under them as part of the World Tour single-player mode. As well as sparring and learning new moves, a huge part of impressing the Master characters, as they’re known, is by giving them gifts.
]]>Capcom’s first major crossover content in Street Fighter 6 is ridiculously priced, but fans are at the very least seeing the funny side.
]]>A few months ago, a decided to throw the retirement plan to the wind and drop and a good chunk of my savings on a flight to Las Vegas. Not for blackjack, but for a far sillier gamble. As of writing, I've blown roughly £2,000 for Street Fighter 6.

]]>Among the lengthy laundry list of things that Street Fighter 6 excels at, one of the most impressive has to be the sense of community and scale around the game’s online component. The MMO-style Battle Hub environment does a brilliant job of fostering arcade-like community over the internet – but did you know that the adventures can also continue, to some degree, on your browser?
]]>Number crunchers online have compiled threads posted on the Street Fighter 6 Reddit, using them to determine which characters are the scariest in the mind of the fighting games' online community. Who came out on top? The answer may surprise you.
]]>When you really step back and think about it, Street Fighter is really one of the first ever games as a service. Sure, in the 90s it meant a different thing - but few games ‘lived’ for as long as Street Fighter titles did, receiving updates that’d deliver new moves, new characters, balance changes, and even entirely new gameplay mechanics.
]]>Rashid - the first DLC character for Street Fighter 6 - is coming to the game July 24.

]]>Last night, over 1,000 players signed up to the Coinbox Street Fighter 6 tournament, hosted and organized by professional Smash Bros player Hungrybox. During this tournament, racial slurs were attributed to two players live over the course of an entire match.
]]>Street Fighter 6 has been out for over a week now, and it turns out the most challenging foe online isn't Honda mashing heavy headbutt or Brazilian Ken players, but Drive Impact. For those new to the game, or nearing the age of forty, reacting to this new attack is proving troublesome.
]]>I am not very good at Street Fighter. 2D fighters have never been my jam, I’ve always been a 3D kid – so much so that I even took a trip to Japan when Tekken 7 was arcade-only and sat on one machine as a couple of locals threw themselves, hopelessly, at my King. But that doesn’t stop me playing games like BlazBlue, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear and more besides on release – I love fighting games. Can’t get enough of them. My limited skill ceiling shouldn’t affect that too much.
]]>Street Fighter 6’s new World Tour story mode is a revelation for the series. Less a ‘cinematic story’ and more more an RPG experience that allows you adventure through an open-ended Street Fighter theme park, it’s a wonderful mode that pays loving homage to years of gaming history. But its secret weapon is that it isn’t just a Street Fighter experience at all.
]]>Street Fighter 6 is clearly already doing quite well for itself, as the latest in the fighting game series hit one million players within its first three days.
]]>Street Fighter 6 is something a bit special, isn’t it? As Alex mentioned in his Street Fighter 6 review, you can tell from the second you start to get your teeth into Capcom’s latest fighter that this, really, is an all-timer. The incredible balancing of the fighting system, the well-considered comeback options, the weight with which you can punish whiffs, the variable and meaningful options open to even the most gimmicky characters… it’s Street Fighter at its peak, and a solid foundation for the next decade – if not decades – of the series’ life.
]]>World Tour is a bold new direction for Street Fighter – and it’s actually where we’d recommend you start your journey in Street Fighter 6. It’s where you’ll create your avatar to represent yourself online, and also one of the most friendly and clever implementations of a training tool ever to feature in a fighting game.
]]>Street Fighter is finally big on PC. The release of Street Fighter 6 has not only demonstrated that to be the case, it also showed that the long-running fighting game series is capable of outselling even the most popular fighting games on Steam.
The fighting game scene on PC has never really been massive, at least when you look at the different games' Steam numbers at launch and beyond. The only major player in the space has, unsurprisingly, been Mortal Kombat - but NetherRealm's reign is seemingly over.
Having debuted less than 24 hours ago, Street Fighter 6 is now firmly Steam's most played fighting game ever, having peaked at 65,873 concurrent players (via SteamDB). Even setting aside the potential for the player base to grow further throughout the day, and over the weekend, this is already a new record for the series.
More importantly, it overtook Mortal Kombat 11's 35,147 peak concurrent, which the NetherRealm game set at its launch in 2019. Setting aside free-to-play hits like MultiVersus with its massive 153,433 peak concurrent, Street Fighter 6 is far and away the most popular premium fighter ever on the platform.
At the time of writing, 45,508 players are currently discovering the silly wonders of World Tour mode, duking it out online against other players, or simply having some friendly matches against local players. That's enough to land it at number 13 on Steam's charts, and it's already the top-selling paid game on the platform.
With its modern controls, a suite of modes for players of all skills to enjoy (something Street Fighter 5 severely lacked), and a modern visual style that strikes a balance between realism and graphical fidelity - Street Fighter 6 always looked well-positioned to change things forever for the series, and the fighting game genre as a whole.
Find out why this is a revolutionary fighting game in Alex's Street Fighter 6 in-depth review at the link.

]]>Street Fighter 6 may well be one of the greatest turn-arounds in gaming history. Cast your mind back to 2016, to the release of the deeply flawed Street Fighter 5. The bones of that package were pretty strong - but there also wasn’t much meat on them. In fact, if you didn’t want to play multiplayer, you were pretty much out of luck. It was a shocking, sloppy-feeling launch package.

]]>It's nice to have flashy trailers that really show off an art style, or that really dig deep into an aesthetic. But to really understand a fighting game – I mean, really know how it'll actually feel on the stick – you need to watch people that know what they're doing have a fight.

It's a tale as old as time. And it just might be the story of Street Fighter 6.
