Ubisoft has just announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows has been delayed from its latest release date of February 14, to a new date of March 20, 2025. So, you'll have to wait a little longer to see some nice clouds over Feudal Japan.
]]>The wishlist of things Helldivers 2 players want added to the game changes so often I really don't envy Arrowhead's position of having to keep up with and consider all of it. That said, sometimes players make things really easy for the studio - for example, by mocking up a full presentation showing what interior dungeon runs could look like.
]]>Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is due to come out next month, and you can get a fresh look at it today by tuning into an RGG Like A Dragon Direct right here that'll see SEGA show off some more of what you'll get up to in the swashbuckling Majimadventure.

]]>A good Genshin Impact Citlali build has one thing at its center: elemental mastery. Citlali needs it more than any other stat, and the good thing about that is you can get a free 4-star catalyst that buffs elemental mastery – no fiddling with the weapons banner required. Citlali’s kit includes a passive buff that raises her damage by a hefty amount of her mastery, so stack as much of it on her as you can.
]]>Microsoft has announced the first wave of January Game Pass line-up, kicking off the new year with a selection of new titles for subscribers to check out. Though, if you're a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber playing on Xbox, you're only getting one new game.

However for Street Fighter 6 fans who've been fiending for new costumes for the main cast, the announcement has gone down terribly.
]]>It's that time of year again. Voting for EA Sports FC 25's Team of the Year is now open, giving you your yearly chance to nominate the players from the men's and women's games that you think have been setting the world alight for a card that streamers will blow thousands on being able to scream at.
]]>Supermarket Simulator is a Roblox tycoon game that’s all about building your own supermarket from the ground up. In this game, you’ll stock your shelves, set prices for items, ring customers up at the register, and expand your store (and profits).
]]>Of the many high-budget games that get released every year, Call of Duty titles remain among the most mysterious in terms of what goes into their production. While Take-Two and Sony Interactive Entertainment may drop some budget figures here and there about their top-selling, most lucrative franchises, Activision never brings up the topic.

]]>Helldivers 2 is getting a movie adaptation, Sony has confirmed during its CES 2025 press conference. What'll it be like? Well, as of right now the company isn't saying, but hopefully the answer isn't just a straight-up copy-and-paste of one of the game's inspirations, but with a few big name actors peppered in there.
]]>Sure, Stellar Blade isn't to everyone's tastes, but the entire staff got a cash bonus alongside a PS5 Pro, which is pretty nice really.
]]>You probably already knew how popular Leon Kennedy was anyway, but if you didn't, Resident Evil 4 remake's speedy sales will probably clue you in.

]]>Elden Ring Nightreign was one of the big headlines at The Game Awards, and sign-ups for a network test of it are set to open up this week. That's pretty rapid, but clearly it ain't rapid enough for some hardcore Souls heads, with one having decided to set themselves the challenge of dishing out a no hit boss beating every day until it's out.
]]>The longer Nintendo takes to officially unveil the Switch successor (that’s what the company is actually currently calling it), the more of these sorts of leaks are going to pop up. Because of just how protracted this entire process has felt, it is a little amusing that we’re now past hardware and design leaks, and well into game leaks.
]]>As you're probably aware, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead gave players the game's first driveable vehicle when it deployed the Omens of Tyranny update. It's called the FRV, and it's an off-road jeep - or at least it was until modders got their hands on it. Now, one's made the inspired decision to replace it with Axel's iconic cab from Crazy Taxi.
]]>When Elden Ring: Nightreign was announced just a few weeks ago at The Game Awards, much of the discussion had a lot do with how surprising the reveal was. This is, after all, an online co-op game from a studio mostly known for its single-player experiences.
]]>Balatro is obviously one of the best games from 2024, and now the dev behind it has shared what they think are the top titles from last year.

]]>The right Genshin Impact Mavuika build is refreshingly straightfowrard to put together, thanks to the Pyro Archon’s unique kit. Mavuika doesn’t need much to work well – just some extra attack and a bit of crit damage. What’s more important is putting her in the right team. Mavuika’s burst needs are different from every other character in Genshin Impact, so far anyway, and her nature as a Pyro sub-DPS means she works in far more team varieties than most Pyro characters since the game launched.
]]>Lootify is a RPG that skips straight to the best part: the shiny loot at the end of the dungeon!

GTA 5's still chipping in though, with a team of modders having recently released a huge project for it that'll let you explore Liberty City as Mike, Franklin, and Trevor.
]]>Sigh. Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead's CCO and longtime figurehead Johan Pilestedt has tweeted that his philosophy is to "make good games, don't make a contemporary political statement". Which, you know, is a bit of a weird thing to say when a whole bunch of games - Helldivers 2 for example - clearly manage to easily be good and explore political themes by their very nature.
]]>HoYoverse unveiled the Honkai Star Rail 3.0 banners, and all I can say is good lord. The Herta – Herta’s actual, human form, not just the puppet – makes her debut alongside Aglaea, the first character from Amphoreus. The Remembrance Trailblazer is also a thing, but we knew all of this was happening already. What we didn’t know is that HoYoverse is putting six big reruns on these banners as well. That’s rough for free-to-play players, of course, but it’s rather a strain for those who just drop some money on the game from time to time as well, what with the annual Shard top-up still being a few months away.
]]>Yep, you've read the headline, this is serious stuff. Someone claims to have posted some images taken in a Rockstar office of GTA 6 playing on a monitor to Reddit, and it might have shown us what the developer's bins looked like back in 2021. That's assuming it's actually genuine, of course.
]]>Thanks to Larian itself and modders, Baldur's Gate 3 keeps getting new bits added to it, because clearly the absolutely huge base game hasn't been enough to totally eat up the free time of hardcore DnD partiers.
]]>The world can’t get enough of Elden Ring, and neither can FromSoftware apparently, with the announcement of a co-operative roguelite set in a world parallel to the gargantuan RPG’s events during The Game Awards last week: Nightreign.

]]>One of 2024's more bizarre stories may have come to a strange conclusion, as a developer from Game Science has posted about Black Myth Wukong's absence from Xbox on Chinese social media platform Weibo. It seems as though rumours surrounding technical limitations being a major culprit behind the game's lack of an Xbox port have some merit after all.
]]>Welcome to January, 2025, folks. As the new year begins, so too do the monthly updates from Sony about the line-up of games coming to PlayStation Plus’ various tiers. We’ve got the first one of those in 2025, with three core games that are (mostly) quite good.
]]>With the calendar having rolled into 2025, the studio behind one of last year's biggest games certainly doesn't sound like it plans to rest on its laurels. Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead's CCO and longtime figurehead Johan Pilestedt has seemigly suggested that the long-term plan could well end up being this second game "growing into" its successor through updates.
]]>Happy new year, Honkai Star Rail fans! Did you have some nice R&R away from your favourite gacha? If so, sit back down and get ready for a major in-game update buddy, as the developers at HoYoverse have announced the release date for the version 3.0 Paean of Era Nova update.

]]>Will the next Battlefield save the series and bring it back as a major player in the shooter space? Is that something that it could even do? EA would certainly like the answer to both of those questions to be ‘yes’, and the publisher has been working to secure every possible advantage to help get it there.
]]>In recent years, some of gaming’s biggest breakout successes have been released during the post-Christmas lull between New Year and Spring. Traditionally, it’s supposed to be a quieter time on the calendar - where we’re all too full of turkey and trimmings and sated by games gifted over the holidays to have an appetite for anything new.
]]>The PS Portal is obviously meant to be a supplementary device, and some new data shows off some interesting play habits.
]]>Look, it’s not my fault I like video games where you run around like a mischievous little Grinch ruining the Christmas that is people going about their everyday lives, by running them down with cars, slamming a bike over their head so hard they don’t get up, or firing an RPG directly at the pavement in front of them.
]]>Remedy is slowly building up its Connected Universe with games like Alan Wake 2 and Control, but it still wants to make sure each game is enjoyable on its own.

]]>I was there at The Game Awards 2024, on the ground in Los Angeles. I don’t know how it all felt and played out online, how the onslaught of ads, Muppet Interludes, and occasionally rushed awards categories worked online - but in the room, my first time experiencing that way, it totally just works. Witnessing it that way left me with only one predominant thought: god, 2024 was a pretty great year for video games.
]]>Earlier this week, the very much expected double XP event kicked off in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 across all platforms. This is something that happens every year, and 2024 is no different.
]]>I still think about the time, several years ago now, when I mentioned off-handedly in the comments of an article I wrote about video game adaptations of Stephen King stories that my dream game in this vein would be a Don't Nod adaptation of It. I've especially been thinking about that since the announcement of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – a game developed and self-published by Don't Nod, due out in early 2025 – because I'll be damned if it doesn't clearly take quite a bit of inspiration from King's iconic 1986 doorstopper about an eldritch spider-clown from outer space, and the ragtag bunch of misfits destined to fight it.
]]>2024 has been a year of massive, perhaps irreversible change for the games industry. The games media space, which has employed me for over a decade, has itself fallen on the hardest times I’d ever witnessed.
]]>Christmas came early for Fisch fans, with Roblox players getting a brand new region to explore ahead of the festive season - the Northern Expedition.

]]>We’re in the middle of the last full week of December, so almost everyone has already called it a year and kicked off their holiday break. This also includes Rockstar, the maker of GTA 6. All of that is to say: the chances of us getting a new trailer for the highly-anticipated game are slim to none.
]]>The Thing (2002) never was a very scary video game. Sure, low-detail graphics were far spookier more than 20 years ago, and there are some effective jump scares in it, but by and large, Computer Artworks' adaptation-sequel was goofy above all. Nightdive Studios' The Thing: Remastered hasn't altered that.
]]>No Rest for the Wicked has been one of 2024’s most interesting releases. Though it got snubbed in many end-of-year awards, it remains an incredible title with an eclectic (and clever) mix of genres.
]]>For a little while there, it seemed like EA felt jealous of Capcom’s immense success with its Resident Evil remakes. The publisher had its own horror franchise laying dormant, so it decided to do something with it.
]]>When I started writing up my shortlist of 2024 GOTY candidates earlier this autumn – in an attempt to sort through a messy mixture of widely-agreed-upon hits I still needed to play and total heart picks I intended to go to bat for – The Casting of Frank Stone easily cleared my personal top 10, quite clearly in the latter category.
]]>On TV and in films and games, Star Wars has the same problem.
]]>Larian has put out Baldur's Gate 3's last big community update of 2024, and it brings some nice news. Registration's now open for the stress test of Patch 8 that's set to take place early next year, so you you can throw your username in the hat if you wish.
]]>While the core ARPG community may be busy arguing the merits of Path of Exile 2 right now; how challenging (and sometimes downright unfair) it can be, and how much it is and isn’t like Diablo, casual players likely don’t care much about all that.
]]>Yep, it's time to talk about video game boxes again. And the future. I know, I'm scared too. Anyway, a reasrach firm has had a go aty predicting what the next generation of console hardware will look like, and its verdict is this - one of PlayStation and Xbox will be able to achieve the kind of success it craves by avoiding landing in third place, while Nintendo'll be just fine.
]]>It's been easy to forget that Helldivers 2 has still had an Illuminate invasion going on over the past couple of days, as everyone's been distracted by the pricing backlash against the game's Killzone crossover gear. But, the aliens are still doing their thing in-game, and the next step in their warpath could delay yopu getting your hands on a new ride.
]]>2024 was a big year for folk with a never-ending affinity towards all things survival-horror, largely due to the fact that the Silent Hill 2 Remake finally released. A game that, after its initial announcement, I was truly dreading. I love Silent Hill 2, so much, and for the longest time, all I ever really wanted was for the original trio of games to be ported to modern platforms exactly as they are. Nothing more, and nothing less. I, admittedly, did not trust Konami or Bloober Team to do it justice.
]]>Since Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead deployed the opening bit of the game's Killzone crossover, the prices players are being asked to pay for this new stuff have been causing some serious backlash. Now, after working to respond to unhappy players, the studio's made the decision to give away the gear coming as second part of the collab for free.
]]>With the release of Version 1.4 of Zenless Zone Zero, the game has found itself in a sort of soft re-launch. Big changes, overhauled features, massive adjustments to combat and story missions. It's a new era for the game, one that clearly hopes to both improve the experience for loyal fans and win back those who bounced off it.
]]>Since Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead deployed the opening bit of the game's first ever crossover - with PlayStation shooter Killzone - yesterday, the prices players are being asked to pay for this new stuff have been causing some serious backlash. Now, CCO Johan Pilestedt has confirmed that the gear was originally set to be released as a warbond, before the studio made the call for it to be individual superstore items instead.
]]>With the release of Version 1.4 of Zenless Zone Zero, a huge selection of major additions and minor tweaks and fixes were rolled out to a community of thirsty players. However, it's this thirst that's caused a bit of a backlash over the past few days, as the update brought with it a semi-block to certain camera angles that allowed players to get 'up-close shots' of their player avatar.
]]>After a good few weeks of 'will they, won't they' chatter surrounding Elden Ring and Bloodborne developer FromSoftware's parent company Kadokawa Corporation and a potential acquisition by Sony, the pair have announced a thing. It's a "strategic capital and business alliance" that's aimed at boosting collaborative ties, with Sony becoming the largest shareholder in Kadokawa.
]]>Getting your ZZZ Harumasa build together is easy and potentially free, just like Harumasa himself, as his kit means you get most of the stats he needs without a special W-Engine. Harumasa works effectively on free teams as well, and his bonus ability frees you up to experiment with more than just the usual electric or Section 6 characters. He even works well on a completely free team.
]]>Earlier today, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead deployed the opening bit of the game's first ever crossover. It's some gear inspired by dormant PlayStation shooter Killzone, but the prices players are being asked to pay for this stuff have prompted some backlash.
]]>I'll cut to the chase: 2024 has been a great year for gaming. Just look at the various GOTY pieces that'll be going up over this week and into the beginning of 2025: each of the writing team here at VG247 has written three pieces - one about our actual GOTY, one about something that we feel has been criminally under-rated over the past 12 months, and one about something we're really looking forward to in the new year.
]]>Because you don't have enough new gear to grab as you battle the Illuminate, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has just revealed the game's first ever crossover. It's a welcome one with dormant PlayStation shooter Killzone, and the first of its gear drops is available right now.
]]>While hype for The Witcher 4's rightly through the roof right now after it got a cool new trailer at The Game Awards last week, odds are we've still got a good while to wait before we can all head off on the path as Ciri.
]]>Putting together a strong ZZZ Miyabi build might seem daunting if you don’t get her signature W-Engine, but unlike Yanagi, Miyabi’s a lot more flexible. Not only can she make good use of other S-rank engines. She can even sweep teh field with an F2P Anomaly engine. That said, you do need to invest heavily in Anomaly Mastery to help her reach her full potential, so plan on plenty of Disc grinding.
]]>The best expansions are unmistakably grounded in their base game, but take all of their strongest ideas and distill them down into a more refined, self-contained experience which not only celebrates everything that made the original great, but takes it just that little bit further, too.

]]>Balatro, which was a runner up for The Game Awards' Game of the Year award, is certainly a popular game. However, for months now it's been plagued with a black mark of sorts on digital storefronts. This, a Pegi 18 rating indicating the game is for adults only, remains after months of pushback, despite other games with real gambling staying up at a 3+ rating. Earlier today, the solo dev of Balatro brought issue to the issue yet again.
]]>Diablo 4 is ending what’s been its best year yet on a high note with one final event that’s going to involve all players. Rather than the usual style of live event, this one features multiple tiers that can only be unlocked through the community’s collective effort.

]]>"Curse you, Jeff!" That's what I've yelled internally as I was thrown into the nearest abyss at least five times since Marvel Rivals' launch on December 6. Before that, I barely even knew who the hell Jeff the Land Shark was, and this is coming from a pop culture sicko.
]]>Firefly is an exceptional 5-Star character in Honkai Star Rail, provided you build her right and pair her with the most efficient of teammates that allow Firefly’s kit to shine. This means bringing along the Harmony Trailblazer, who you can fortunately get your hands on for free, and preparing to invest plenty of materials into Firefly’s abilities and Traces.
]]>We all got our first proper look at The Witcher 4 during The Game Awards last night, via a cool new trailer that showed Ciri - the game's protagonist - doing some witchering.
]]>Gallagher is one of many 4-Star characters in Honkai Star Rail, but he’s one of few that is well worth using right now. He’s able to be slotted into multiple teams as a versatile support character who can dish out Break damage, and more importantly, he’s a key player in the meta Super Break team involving Firefly.
]]>Among the many, many things that were shown off at last night's Keighleyfest - The Game Awards - were few things that I'm really excited about. Sure, The Witcher 4 was a big one, but there were others, and two of them have more common ground than you might expect from a couple of games set literally miles apart. They're Project Century and Mafia: The Old Country and they both look like they'll scratch my weird itch for fights that take place when my great grandad was alive.
]]>
