Mobile Suit Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino says Hayao Miyazaki has "always been my enemy," but he won't let anyone say he's not an artist.
]]>I would say a pretty defining sentiment of the 2010s when it comes to work is this idea of hustle culture. You should always have something going on, always be working, always have a little side thing bringing in some money. This definitely manifested into encouraging people to start their own businesses, which worked great with the advent of sites like Etsy and the like which expressly let you do so, but it can even be applied to just things like making videos on YouTube, or doing art commissions.
]]>The Boy and the Heron taking home the Oscar for best animated feature is a bit of a historic win. Not as big as Spirited Away's win more than 20 years ago, but Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki's latest is the first 2D, hand-drawn film to win the award since Spirited Away, the second time a foreign animated film has won (the first again being Spirited Away), and at 83, Miyazaki is the oldest director to have won the award. It's an incredibly deserved win, too; the film has quickly become one of my personal favourites, as a clear look back to the director's impressive library of works. But to be honest? It didn't need the win.

Hino also said he is confident the west will give the title a chance considering the success of past titles from Level-5.
