Having kids is wonderful when it's not the most tiring, life-changing thing you can do to yourself – and even then you only remember the wonderful bits. When your child smiles at you for the first time and it isn't a build up of gas... wonderful. When your child says "dada" not as part of a string of completely random sounds... wonderful. When your child laughs at you for doing something only they would laugh at... wonderful.

So, instead of dispatching zombies with a projectile weapon, you can now use Eddie's axe instead. Rock on. Hit up the links for more.

]]>Every gamer on the planet is aware of the drama which unfolded between EA Partners, Double Fine, and Activision over Tim Schafer's gaming homage to metal, Brutal Legend. When the game was dropped from Activision and picked up by EA, everyone assumed it was a case of the little guy being stepped on by the bigger guy when the game's former publisher moved to block the release of the game, subsequently branding Activision as the Evil Empire with Darth Kotick at the helm.
However, despite the legalities and all the verbal back-and-forth between all parties involved, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick as finally broken his silence on the matter, and if what he says is true, the decision was made by Vivendi during its merger with Activision and Kotick had never even so much as laid eyes on the game.

In the first map, Circle of Tears, vile waters have carved a rough-hewn circular battlefield into a forsaken land that players must circumvent to destroy their opponent. In the second map, Death's Fjord, players find themselves on an icy mountain pass with a dense cluster of fans that lie below, waiting to be harvested by those brave enough to capture them without cover from enemy attack. All players who download the new map pack will receive a free axe, the Blade of Ormagöden.

]]>IGN's gone live with the first reviews for Brutal Legend.
Judgement: it's bloody awesome. IGN US went with a 9.0, while IGN Australia went with a 9.3.
A blurb from the US review:
"Brutal Legend isn't quite perfect and there is room for improvement (it's a little short, side quests are repetitive...), but when the credits roll you'll find yourself hoping for a sophomore release. Double Fine created a rich heavy metal universe and backstory full of great characters and creatures, with potential for an out-of-this-world sequel. Here's hoping Shafer and company get a chance to take us there."
