]]>This week, a viral video for a "game" called Mass: We Pray was released, and like most of us thought, it was a fake. A hilarious fake, nonetheless.
Turns out, it was the latest in EA marketing for Dante's Inferno, this time instead of Wrath or Lust, it was Heresy.
When you click on the preorder spot for the game, it takes you to the page for Dante's Inferno, so no "anointing the stick for you" or playing around with crucifix styled controllers that would make a Goth kid squeal with glee.
Heresy. The worst of all sins. Well, to some folks at any rate. This time, it's rather hilarious.

]]>The latest episode of GTTV that was teased yesterday has been released, and it is full of Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake and many other nifty things.
In it, the BioWare Doctors talks about how they see games as an art form, and how the team is pushing the envelope once again with Mass Effect 2. There's also information on your new squad member, and "The Man" is revealed to be not only Sheperd's nemesis, but also someone he is kind of taking orders from.
There's also a badass new trailer for Dante's Inferno in there, and a new one for C&C4: Tiberian Twilight as well and then there's GTTV's review for Modern Warfare 2 and a preview of Alan Wake.

]]>During EA's Winter Showcase in West London, the EU PS Blog had a chance to sit down with the executive producer of Dante's Inferno, Jonathan Knight.
In the chat, Knight mentioned that from the moment he pitched the idea of bringing the literary classic into the 21st century via an action game, he pretty much "got the greenlight right away".
"The bosses of the games label at EA and the executives thought it was a great idea right away," he revealed. "Like me, they saw the potential in the mythology and how nobody's ever taken on that sort of medieval, christian notion of the afterlife as kind of a real place that you go to under the ground. There's monsters and demons and rivers, and it's just a crazy fantastical vision that Dante Aligeri had for Hell.
"My execs just immediately saw potential there for a great game."

]]>Visceral has announced that it's to release a demo for Dante's Inferno in December, which has players going through The Gates of Hell - the entire first level of the game.
Great to hear.
There's a developer video of Heresy - the sixth circle of Hell - below the break, and in it the devs talk about how the place heretics go is indeed full of fire, brimstone, and literally Satan's backyard.
It's loaded with poor souls damned to Hell for all eternity, and when dealing with them you can choose to be a "total bastard or a nice guy" - the choice is up to you.

]]>EA and Visceral has announced that BioShock composer Garry Schyman has been hired to compose the score for Dante's Inferno.
"Scoring Dante's Inferno was one of the most interesting and challenging projects I have ever tackled," said Schyman. "Literally being asked to score hell was fantastic especially once I saw the surrealistically frightening world that Visceral Games had developed. I thought long and hard about every piece of music I wrote to create something new, surprising and fitting.
"It has turned out to be one of the most creative experiences in my career."
The orchestral score and chorus were recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Metro Voices Singers. The score soundtrack is planned for release in early 2010.
Game's out for PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360 February 9 and 12 in the US and UK respectively.

]]>Electronic Arts and DC comics have teamed up to reveal that Visceral Games' Dante's Inferno will have a six issue graphic mini-series made in its honour with the first issue due in December this year.
The comic is illustrated by Diego Latorre (The Incredible Hulk) and written by Christos Gage (X-Men/Spider-Man, Wildcats), so the prestige is there for it not to be crap.
However, if you're going to ComicCon this week, you can pick up a special issue #0, and get it signed by the above.
We're not there. Awesome.

]]>EA has just revealed that Visceral Game's Dante's Inferno will run at 60 frames per second and that the game will give gamers the "western world’s most definitive view of the afterlife." Seriously.
"Built on the same technology as the award-winning Dead Space, Dante’s Inferno will deliver a fast, fluid and responsive combat experience running at 60 frames per second," says the E3 fact sheet that you can find in its entirety after the break.

There's little detail on the game aside from the fact it's being developed internally at Redwood Shores and is, obviously, based on the Divine Comedy.
“The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience who, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,” said Jonathan Knight, executive producer for the game.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”
