There's a new Gundam anime on the way, and along with it comes some pretty strong talent from both Pokemon and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
]]>While Kagurabachi was treated as a bit of a joke in the west last year, it's seemingly been popular enough to get an anime adaptation.
]]>You know what's a just fine piece of telly? Arcane! It's an absolute stunner to look at, I'll give it that, but I personally don't find the story all that compelling, and season 2 is rushed beyond belief. As a lover of animation I really did just watch it for Fortiche's in-house style, that served me well enough, but I do still find spoilers annoying like anybody else, even for a show whose story I'm not that invested in. Thanks to "the algorithm", though, I didn't really have much of a choice in having pretty much all of Arcane season 2 spoiled for me.
]]>You might not have heard of The Summer Hikaru Died just yet, but I think the first trailer will have you adding it to your Netflix watchlist.
]]>A new report claims that Sony is looking to acquire FromSoftware's parent company Kadokawa Corporation, but that could actually be uncomfortable news for manga fans.
]]>This just in in sentences I never once thought I'd write in my life: the Vatican has introduced the world to its anime girl mascot.
]]>This year has been a bit of a mixed one for Dragon Ball fans - Daima, the first new TV anime since Super ended in 2018, started just this month, which came alongside the release of the hotly anticipated Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. Of course, sadly, series creator Akira Toriyama sadly died in March of this year, meaning as enjoyable as both the new series and the game have been, there has been a smidge of sadness that comes with them, especially considering how deeply involved Toriyama was with Daima, but it's also clearly lit a fire in many Dragon Ball fans the series hasn't had in a long while.
]]>Last year's anime adaptation of The Apothecary Diaries was a bit of a surprise hit, and now after a bit of a wait, there's a release date for season 2.
]]>The film adaptation of Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto's Look Back is coming to Prime Video next month.
]]>For a long time, anime was this pretty inaccessible thing for Western audiences, outside of what was shown on Toonami in places like the US and UK, or those sneaky not-very-legal typically expletive-laden fan-subs, there wasn't really a good way to watch it. Big names like Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Sailor Moon have long been popular over here, but it's only really over the past 10 years or so when anime has actually been something you can easily find outside of Japan.
]]>In a now deleted series of posts on Bluesky, Uzumaki producer Jason Demarco shared a bit of insight into what went wrong with the series.

]]>My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi promised a big announcement following the series' final chapter and it's… a worldwide popularity poll!
]]>The makers of beloved anime series Anohana are reuniting for a brand new film which has just got a release date.

]]>Mappa, the studio behind big series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan, is taking on the remake of Ranma 1/2 next for Netflix.
]]>If you look back at the anime and manga scene in the 2010s, and the kinds of series that were popular, the vibes would feel quite different than they do now. Manga from Weekly Shonen Jump has always been popular, but the previous decade didn't have anything like the big three (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) when it started off. It wasn't until towards the end of the decade where My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen really started to take off as the poster children for WSJ, so popular anime included titles like Konosuba, Psycho Pass, and Assassination Classroom, none of which you really hear about much anymore.
]]>Witch Hat Atelier finally got its first anime trailer at Anime Expo last week, and it's looking incredible, even if the studio behind it might be cause for concern.
]]>If you've been wondering where you'll be able to stream some of the most popular upcoming anime, Crunchyroll has acquired a bevy of series just for you.

]]>Sorry, My Hero Academia fans, but the end is almost here: the popular superhero manga is ending in just five chapters.
]]>When a Delicious in Dungeon anime was announced way back in 2022, I immediately felt excited. I was a big fan of what I'd read of the manga at the time, and hearing the news that it was being handled by none other than Studio Trigger - the same animation team that's overseen projects like Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and Promare, all of which have an incredible energy to them - did nothing to put me off. Of course, that meant that there were some big expectations for Trigger's adaptation of Delicious in Dungeon to match - those who loved the manga really loved it, so Trigger really couldn't afford to mess it up.
]]>Suicide Squad Isekai, the upcoming anime that promises to put Harley Quinn and co in an alternate fantasy universe, finally has a release date.
]]>This probably won't be a surprise to anyone, but Spy x Family season 3 has been confirmed.
]]>A new look at the upcoming Tomb Raider anime is here, and Netflix has even confirmed when you can finally watch it.
]]>I was definitely one of those kids that looked at Digimon and thought "that looks like a Pokemon ripoff" and just kind of ignored it. It's not like I never saw any of the show, I did own a single VHS tape with a couple of episodes on it that I watched at least more than once, but there was definitely something missing for me. Cut to now, approaching my thirties, and my fellow-Pokemon-only partner and I thought to ourselves "shall we give Digimon a go?" Why we had that thought, I couldn't tell you, but it did feel like something that was missing in our lives and we wanted to fill that gap.
]]>Nier: Automata Ver 1.1a, the anime adaptation of the beloved Square Enix game, is finally coming back this July.
]]>Ghost in the Shell is coming back, this time with a new series from the studio behind Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
]]>You know, in all my years of watching anime, the one sub-genre I've never really gotten into is sports anime. To be honest, that most likely comes from the fact I just don't care for real world sports all that much - everything takes too long and the drama of it all can feel a bit too forced for my liking. But there is one series that I've been meaning to check out for a long while, and have consistently said to myself that I'll watch it eventually, because everyone I know that's watched it loves it more than anything: Haikyu.
]]>Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction released as a pair of films in Japan, but Crunchyroll has announced its international release will be as a series.

]]>A unit director and key animator from Makoto Shinkai's hit film Your Name is making his own directorial debut soon, and it's looking beautiful so far.
]]>It's been a good year for Godzilla fans: last year saw the arrival of Godzilla Minus One, the first Japanese live-action title since 2016's Shin Godzilla, and the American produced Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire just released at the end of March. Whether you want something a bit more grounded or you just want to watch giant monsters bashing the hell out of each other, there's something for everyone. But of course, you might want to keep that kaiju train rolling, and you're looking for something new to bite into. Lucky for you, this anime season has a giant monster anime for you that seems well worth setting some time aside for: Kaiju No. 8.
]]>The first trailer for Look Back, an anime film based on a one-shot from Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, is finally here, and it looks ridiculously good.
]]>If you're a Haikyu fan that's been eagerly awaiting an international release for The Dumpster Battle, you'll be happy to hear Crunchyroll has finally confirmed one.
]]>If you kidnapped me, drove me to an underground broker far away from civilization, put a gun to my head and forced me into choosing the greatest manga/ anime of all time, first of all, please don't do this, and secondly, I probably wouldn't have much of a hard time saying Fullmetal Alchemist. Yeah, yeah, I know what you're going to say, "but what about *insert manga name*" and maybe you're right, but let's be honest; there are very few series that can hold a candle to the highs and lows of FMA.
]]>Crunchyroll has finally confirmed a release date for My Hero Academia, and lucky for you, it's only a month away.
]]>Delicious in Dungeon is having a little bit of a moment, and I'm personally thrilled to see it. When it comes to things like merchandise, you won't really see a series get any until it's in anime form, and a plethora of merch and things like collaboration cafes are typically reserved for more popular series - luckily the fantasy series from Ryoko Kui is being treated to both and more. It's refreshing, as Delicious in Dungeon is such a unique take on fantasy that the genre has sorely needed for the longest time. But it's not alone in revitalising fantasy.
]]>Neon Genesis Evangelion is a bit of an eternal anime. There are plenty of series from the 90s that people still talk about to this day, and are plenty influential themselves, but I think even after the heat death of the universe there'll still be a horde of figures and rotting VHS tapes floating about waiting for the birth of the next one. It's a little ironic that it would then, at least for a little while, wrap things up with a film called End of Evangelion, as if to say "yeah, alright, we've all had enough of this, haven't we?"
]]>It might sound like an odd mix, but fans of Chainsaw Man, Tokyo Mew Mew, and K-On! should probably get excited for Science Saru's newly announced film.
]]>Those of you that have been patiently waiting for the return of the Fairy Tail anime will probably be very happy to hear it's finally coming back this summer.
]]>Rick and Morty: The Anime is still waiting on a release date confirmation, but Adult Swim has given us another look at it at the very least.
]]>You should start getting excited for Dandadan, a supernatural and extraterrestrial anime that's set to stream on Netflix later this year.
]]>The Boy and the Heron taking home the Oscar for best animated feature is a bit of a historic win. Not as big as Spirited Away's win more than 20 years ago, but Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki's latest is the first 2D, hand-drawn film to win the award since Spirited Away, the second time a foreign animated film has won (the first again being Spirited Away), and at 83, Miyazaki is the oldest director to have won the award. It's an incredibly deserved win, too; the film has quickly become one of my personal favourites, as a clear look back to the director's impressive library of works. But to be honest? It didn't need the win.
]]>Chainsaw Man might be a manga, but it's clear that one of series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto's favourite things in life is movies. Films and anything related to films is found throughout his work, with both Chainsaw Man and his previous manga Fire Punch having some important scenes set in a cinema. There's also Goodbye Eri, a manga about making movies (which you should really read by the way) and the fact that every single volume of Chainsaw Man has Fujimoto sharing a film he likes.
]]>At one point in time, it felt like One Punch Man was unstoppable, with a killer first season that took the anime world by storm. That was in no small part thanks to a mix of some incredible animation, and a strong, funny foundation laid by the creator of the manga, One. It also had an amazing opening song that's a proper earworm.
]]>After a long wait of no news, it's finally been confirmed that the Nier: Automata anime is finally returning some time this year.
]]>Believe it or not, the live-action film adaptation of Naruto presses onwards, having now attached a director to the upcoming movie.
]]>Late-stage capitalism has just gotten much wackier with the announcement that WcDonald's, a recurring joke in anime, manga, webtoons, and video games, is becoming a real thing (for a while) thanks to McDonald's.
]]>If you loved Netflix's stop-motion animated series Pokemon Concierge, then you'll be very happy to hear that more episodes are on the way.
]]>If you call yourself an anime and manga fan, you almost definitely know Chainsaw Man already. How can you not! While it isn't selling as much as its contemporaries like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, it's still an incredibly popular series, with a passionate fandom that's created countless bits of fanart, cosplays, and more. Now, as announced this week, creator Tatsuki Fujimoto's Look Back is also getting an anime adaptation, based on the 2021 one-shot of the same name - and I can't see a better excuse to look past the beast that is Chainsaw Man to check out some of the other manga artist's excellent one-shots.
]]>Naomi Osaka, one of the best tennis players in the world, is making and starring in an anime based on a little known manga.
]]>You'll probably be familiar with Chainsaw Man by now, but you'll soon learn of one of Tatsuki Fujimoto's best works, Look Back.

]]>The Pokemon Company released a very cute anime short last week to celebrate Lunar New Year, and I want nothing more than an entire season of it now.
]]>Hi there, it’s Friday as I write this, as a new music video featuring a cameo from Pikachu has arrived in our lives. In case you were wondering, it sees him be abducted by a spacecraft piloted by a DJ in a big hat, which is quite fun.
]]>Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular animes in recent years. After first debuting in 2020, the dark Shonen series came back with a bang in 2023, with a thrilling second season full of twists, turns and deaths.
]]>You ever get a video game itch that just seems impossible to scratch? You know exactly what you want, but no matter what you play it just isn't doing it for you. I'm going through that right now, and it's all because of the incredibly good anime and manga that is Delicious in Dungeon. The anime is currently airing on Netflix, and if you couldn't tell from the fact that this is my third piece of writing on the series in the space of a month, I'm hyper fixating on it just a touch.
]]>Following its release in Japan last year, Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll have confirmed a US release date for Spy x Family Code: White.
]]>In what is sounding like a match made in heaven, Naoto Oshima, original designer of Sonic the Hedgehog, is making a film with Dragon Ball studio Toei Animation.
]]>Ya like jazz? No? Oh, that's a shame. I understand not every music genre can be for everyone, but I personally do think there's something special about the genre. You're not alone in that, though. My partner has never been a massive fan of, and in particular has always struggled with listening to the saxophone - sensory issues make the occasionally screechy brass instrument a tough listen for them. However! That all changed one day last week, thanks to the incredible anime movie that is Blue Giant.
]]>The newest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima, the latest series in the long-running series, certainly looks like we're in for a good time.
]]>Jukki Hanada, the screenwriter behind works like Love Live! and Sound! Euphonium, is working on a new film, and the influence of Into the Spider-Verse can be felt.
]]>This winter anime season has been a pretty busy one - Solo Leveling has finally received its anime adaptation, the seconds seasons of both Mashle and Urusei Yatsura are here, Blue Exorcist finally has a third season, and of course there's the excellent Delicious in Dungeon too. A lot of these, among others I haven't mentioned, are all quite action packed, and typically fit into the shonen demographic. It's an area I feel pretty well versed in these days, but I've been trying to branch out a bit more, particularly into shojo, a frequently underrepresented section when it comes to broader discussions around anime in the West. I'm slowly getting there, with titles like Revolutionary Girl Utena already under my belt, but I fancied something fresh recently, and luckily, the excellent and very cheesy A Sign of Affection was there to meet me.
]]>Rick and Morty season 8 has caught a delay into 2025, but that's ok, you'll be able to see them again when the anime drops later this year.
]]>At this point in time, Studio Trigger has become something of a household name for anime fans - it kicked things off with the incredibly energetic Kill la Kill, and has produced the excellent series for Netflix like Little Witch Academia and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and now most recently, Delicious in Dungeon.
]]>Out of all the months of the year, January probably sucks the most, right? Sorry to people who were born this month, but it just isn't a very good one, at least in the UK anyway. The holidays are over, it's freezing cold and wet, and it's a dead period for good movies or games most of the time. No wonder January blues is a phrase that exists in the first place! But, even if there's nothing new to watch, there's always something old - and personally, I can't recommend a better film to pick your spirits up than the 2009 racing anime Redline.
]]>Are you somehow looking for more One Piece? Well, it's not exactly about pirates, but later this week the prequel film Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation is dropping on Netflix.
]]>Netflix is truly going all in on One Piece, as the show's upcoming season Egghead Arc is set to air on the streaming service next week.
]]>Back in the day, before I started doing this weird job called video games journalism, I worked in hospitality for more years than I'd like to think about. It was always going to happen, my family has a background in it, and my dad's a chef, so food was just a big part of my life anyway. In turn, I'm lucky enough to know a little bit about cooking, and have gotten pretty good at it! It's a skill you have to put time into, as it's not exactly something most people will teach you, which sometimes makes it hard to learn. But, and bear with me here, I honestly think Delicious in Dungeon, Netflix's latest anime about killing monsters and turning them into delicious meals, has some surprisingly good lessons about cooking.
]]>The Pokemon Company has announced its anime-viewing app Pokemon TV is shutting down in a couple of months time, which will make watching the series a bit tougher.
]]>It's been a long wait, but we finally got confirmation that season two of one of Netflix's best anime, Dorohedoro, is in production.
]]>With another year coming to a close, that means there's a whole new year of anime to look forward to. There was plenty to enjoy in 2023, but 2024 is looking pretty stacked already, and that's taking into consideration that there are still plenty of announcements to be made.
]]>Are there any Christmas movies that aren't about family in some shape or form? I'm sure there must be, but they normally are, especially the best ones. It's just quite a natural thing to focus on, given that it's meant to be the time of year that families come together, for better or worse. For the most part a lot of classics do focus on the nuclear family, as if there could be any other structure, which can make some films feel a bit samey in places. But there's one film in particular that I think expertly captures the spirit of Christmas through the lens of an unconventional, seldom seen on screen found family; Satoshi Kon's penultimate feature film, Tokyo Godfathers.
]]>It's sounding like Jujutsu Kaisen might soon be coming to an end, as the manga's creator suggests the series will be wrapped up by next year.
]]>Adult Swim has offered up a short but sweet look at its upcoming Rick and Morty anime, as well as a new release window.
]]>Kaiju No. 8, an upcoming series all about beating and turning into kaiju, will make weird history next year by being the first anime to officially stream on Twitter.
]]>After a long wait for an update, there's finally word on when we can expect to see the Chainsaw Man anime to return; as it turns out, it's coming back as a film.
]]>One Piece fans will seemingly never have to worry about the series ending, as Netflix is now working on an anime remake starting from the very beginning.
]]>It's time. You've finally made the call. You flipped the coin that had One Piece on one side, and Naruto on the other, and the spiky-haired fox boy came out on top. Of course, you might have flipped said coin without really knowing much about Naruto, so here's a brief run down for you.
]]>
