According to the development team, rather than just create any Sonic game for the blue fella's 20th Anniversary, it wanted something which would instead be a present to those who have loved the series over the past two decades. In order to do this, it had to compress a score of history into one game, so everyone could come together and celebrate. It's a very interesting video, and it's posted below. ]]>SEGA may be bringing Sonic back as his classic Sonic 1 self in unlockable form with Sonic Generations, but don't look for it to be happening again any time soon. According to the firm's European brand manager David Corless, "there are no plans, to be brutally honest, to bring Classic Sonic back." Corless said the only reason he's back for the November release, is due to it being the hedgehog's 20th anniversary. "It was a real fitting time to do it, he’s really well loved," he said. "Let’s see how Generations does. You can never say never in this industry, but at the moment there are no plans.”

Anniversary celebrations have already consisted of the release of an iOS app that catches you up on Sonic-related happenings, as well as a demo of Sonic Generations on PSN later today and other Sonic-related deals for the PS Store.
