]]>Activision has sent over a list of downloadable tracks for Guitar Hero 5, that will be landing on consoles in November.
Fans of Lenny Kravitz and KISS will be privy to track packs from both, and there will also be a six-pack of free songs from Neversoft bands.
Wii users will be getting a heaping helping of Metallica with tracks from Death Magnetic that are already available on PS3 and Xbox 360.

]]>Guitar Hero 5 has a demo up over on Xbox Live Marketplace.
It features three songs in the Party Play mode where you can jump in/jump out of songs at any time.
]]>Guinness World Records has announced that Italy set a new record for the largest number of participants to play a single Guitar Hero session for 24-hours.
This happened during the Guitar Hero 5 : Jump In Jump Out Challenge, where 594 people turned up at the Italian event, to be part of the record-setting activity. Players spanning all ages were prompted to jump in or drop out, or switch difficulty level at any time without interrupting the session through Guitar Hero 5’s Party Play Mode.
“I’m thrilled to see this many fans come together en masse to rock out to Guitar Hero 5.” said Michael Sportouch, senior director ,Guitar Hero Europe. “Achieving this new world record is the perfect celebration for the release of the new installment of Guitar Hero, which promises consumers the ultimate interactive gaming experience.”

]]>Activision has announced that Kurt Cobain will be a playable character in Guitar Hero 5.
His likeness, controlled by you, will be performing two of the band’s singles from their 1991 album Nevermind: “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and a previously unreleased live recording of “Lithium.”
“Kurt Cobain is one of the most recognizable frontmen in rock ‘n’ roll history and it’s an honor to have two of Nirvana’s masterpieces included in Guitar Hero 5,” said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Activision. “This is the first time the original recording of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ has ever been licensed in an entertainment property and we’re thrilled to offer Guitar Hero® fans exclusive access to the unreleased live version of ‘Lithium.’”
Wonder how much of a cut Courtney Love got out of this.

]]>Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has been confirmed for Guitar Hero5, where he will lend is likeness and trademark falsetto to the game's stage.
The track Plug in Baby from the band's 2001 second studio album, Origin of Symmetry, will be present in the game as well.
Game is scheduled to hit store shelves on September 1 for PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

]]>Johnny Cash's likeness will be featured in Guitar Hero 5 - you knew that already though.
Since the fella is no longer around, Cash tribute artist Terry Lee Goffee provided the motion capture for the game, and the video of the result is posted after the beak.

]]>Speaking with IGN, chief creative officer at Vicarious Visions Karthik Bala said that Guitar Hero 5's Wii tour won't be hindered by in-game friend codes.
"For GH5, we've implemented support for your global Wii Friend Codes. If you've got friends in your Wii address book, they'll automatically be added to your friends list in game, so you can easily connect up with them in online multiplayer games," he explained.

]]>Activision hs sent us over a presser unveiling all 85 songs present on the Guitar Hero 5 retail disc.
Loads of goodies in there too if you are still interested in this sort of thing.
Highlights include Beck, Johnny Cash, Garbage, Megadeth Muse, Queen, The Killers, Bob Dylan, Hendrix, Iron Maiden, Kings of Leon, Frampton, Smashing Pumpkins, and many others you may like.

Apparently, she will be preforming Only Happy When it Rains in the game.

The difference between this set and the ones included with World Tour are the cymbals, which these look more like "real" cymbals.

]]>Neversoft has told Eurogamer that it would like to see turntable integration with Guitar Hero in the future.
Apparently, the DJ Hero turntable becoming compatible with the game is not too far-fetched, nor is bringing drums to DJ Hero now that you can use little plastic guitars with DJ Hero.

]]>Activision just confirmed Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5 for launch this autumn.
Band Hero is to carry an E10+ rating, and will feature "top-40 hits" to a "broad family audience". It'll use guitar, drums, bass and microphone.
DJ Hero is to include "hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance". And those turntable shots Twittered earlier have just been released as PR.
Guitar Hero 5's more of the same, basically.
