]]>Namco Bandai has confirmed Ni no Kuni has sold approximately 1.4 million units worldwide. The figure includes worldwide sales of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, released for PlayStation 3, and Japan only sales of its Nintendo DS. “We are very proud to join our partner, Level-5 to announce that the critically acclaimed role-playing game series, Ni no Kuni, has approximately reached the 1.4 million units sold worldwide,” said Olivier Comte, Namco Europe's SVP. “The franchise has been very well received in EMEA and as a result of its quality, has reached an amazing number of sales for a JRPG.” The sales figures for the game were originally announced during the Level-5 Vision event last week in Japan.

]]>Some sumptuous new shots have arrived of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, the RPG collaboration between Japanese powerhouses Level-5 and Studio Ghibli.
They depict protagonist Oliver having a grand old time trotting around a desert, fighting over some cheese (or maybe a biscuit?) and encountering a rather large lady bejewelled with crown, bell-earrings and pointy horns. Ogle them through the break.
The RPG is currently being localised for the west and is expected to arrive late January 2013 on PS3.

Announced yesterday for Europe and Australia, the limited run packages comes with the game, a highly detailed version of Oliver’s spellbook, The Wizard’s Companion, the Golden Mite and Golden Drongo familiars, and an adorable Drippy plush doll. It will cost $99.99 and is available exclusively through the ClubNamco Shop. Ni no Kuni is out in early 2013.

It will be released alongside the standard edition of the game on January 25. The edition contains a hardback of Oliver's spellbook, The Wizard’s Companion, which has over 300 pages. It also contains a plush doll of Drippy, Oliver’s guide, as well as exclusive “golden mite” and “golden drongo” DLC familiars. Those who pre-order Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch at participating retailers will also receive two exclusive familiars developed especially for the western release: flutterby and griffy. While that's a long wait for the Level-5 and Studio Ghibli collaboration, it looks to be worth it to us. The game will come with English voices with French, German, Italian, and Spanish subtitles. ]]>Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has told Famitsu the firm and Studio Ghibli's would consider a sequel to Ni no Kuni should the title do well overseas. Hino also said he is confident the west will give the title a chance considering the success of past titles from Level-5. It was also noted in the interview that the reason for a delayed release in the west was due to the team taking its time to ensure a proper translation, especially considering the title contains over one million words. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will release during the first quarter of 2013 on PS3 complete with a digital version of the Magic Master book accessible from the game menu. Thanks, Andriasang.
